What To Pack For Vacation With An Infant

What To Pack For Vacation For a Child Under 1

In the past two years, our daughter has traveled 4 states and 2 countries. We love traveling and within reason, we bring our kiddo along.

A lot of parents have recently inquired about what to bring for a child under 1 years of age. Some of the items, I still bring with me for my 2 year old but most of the below items were extremely useful when she was an infant/toddler.

Feeding gadgets:

Water Bottle Adapter

The last thing I wanted to do on vacation is wash a million bottles. These really helped when we needed a quick snack/meal. NOTE: The flow is pretty strong similar to fast slow nipples

Baby Buddy Secure-A-Toy: http://amzn.to/1rdfh26

Sippygrip: http://amzn.to/1rqZahI
With a million little toys, restaurant and airplane trips became a constant battle. These holders attach to anything: chairs, stroller, high chair, your bag, your wrist – you get the idea.
The key difference is that the Sippygrip has a very strong rubber that holds toys without handles. Get both! You’ll thank me later.

Pouch Buddy: http://amzn.to/1TfIfF1
I can’t say enough about this amazing contraption. My little one loves veggie pouches. This adapts to any pouch, including reusable for homemade food. No more little squirts and messes.

Thermos Sippy Cup: http://amzn.to/1SGjVjN
Love this! We have it and the thermos straw bottle. It’s perfect in hot and cold weather, especially at the beach when sippy cups warm up extremely quickly

Munchkin Click Lock Weighted Flexi Straw Trainer Cup: http://amzn.to/1VH4URh
Very light, no spill and the straw folds inwards which makes it awesome for all kids of outdoor activities

Disposable Bibs: http://amzn.to/1SIGVLy
I don’t want to clean on vacation or road trips, disposable bibs are the best

aden + anais Bibs: http://amzn.to/24udT9S
That said, there are a few bibs that are worth washing than ruining that super adorable top. Get this one, full coverage, including shoulders and super soft to wipe away the mess

Disposable Place mats: http://amzn.to/1UszI75
I’ve never been a germaphobe but when kids put everything in their mouths, these things are a life savior.

Inflatable High Chair: http://amzn.to/26La02s
I bought this when my daughter was already too old for it. It folds into a little tiny square. It’s perfect for under 1. Especially if you hate the high chairs at restaurants or know there won’t be any available.

Pool & Beach for Infants and Toddlers:
(Read Family Trip to DR - What To Pack for more tips and beach items)

Schylling Infant UV Playshade it’s a must – under 2lb and becomes huge. Like a little playhouse that’s protected from harmful rays, harsh sun and has ventilation: Infant Playshade An adult or two children can fit in comfortably. A perfect place to discreetly breastfeed too or put a baby down for a nap

Imse Vimse Water Shoes: http://amzn.to/1VH5RJf
Super cute and perfect for tiny feet. Keeps early walkers safe in the sand and the shoes float!

Swimways Baby Spring Float: http://amzn.to/1rr0Rfj
We used this only in the pool. The waves at the beach made me skeptical. It protects the baby from the sun and allows them to safely float and move their legs and arms. Folds flat.

iPlay Hat: http://amzn.to/1TfRvcl
I love these, full coverage hats!

Planes, Trains and Cars:

Entertainment on the go
Little ones love toys that make noise but those are usually huge and require a lot of luggage space. Below are some smaller toys that have multiple songs/variety of interaction. Save space and take these instead:
Baby Einstein Take Along Tunes Musical Toy: http://amzn.to/1TG37Zh
Bright Starts Take-Along Toy, Beaming Buggie: http://amzn.to/24uemc5
Kids Preferred Amazing Baby Blanket Teether Bear: http://amzn.to/1TfSfOs
Infantino Hug and Tug Musical Giraffe: http://amzn.to/1TG3vqA
The First Years Star Teething Blanket: http://amzn.to/24ug79o
Brica mirror: http://amzn.to/1SGqO4w
This mirror is traditionally used for the car, but you can bring it on an airplane and rest it while the baby listens to the sounds and changing lights. Very soothing. One of my daughter’s favorites.

Teethers can also be perfect – kids put everything in their mouths at this age. Below are the ones we loved:
Nuby Icybite Hard/Soft Teething Keys: http://amzn.to/1TfTDAH
Baby Banana Bendable Training Toothbrush, Infant: http://amzn.to/1SIKzFl
Toothbrush and teether in one. Perfect for when teeth are coming in so you can scratch those itchy gums

On the go
Ergo Baby Carrier: http://amzn.to/1WILBps
When traveling, especially on planes, I've noticed most parents use a carrier. It keeps their hands free, the baby is protected and safely with the parents and it makes navigating the airport easier especially when traveling with multiple kids
Brica Travel Bassinet http://amzn.to/1Uzemow
Perfect if you don't want to use that questionable pack and play or if you want to safely co-sleep
3 in 1 Bassinet/Diaper Bag: http://amzn.to/1W7XMgv
This is a real space savor! Use it as your diaper bag and changing table. When you arrive, the baby can sleep in it as well

Care Items

There are many care products available – below are the ones I use for my daughter wherever we go!
LureLux Natural Bug Repellent: http://amzn.to/1SIEwAt
Natural Hand Sanitizer Spray Original Scent: http://amzn.to/1TFZ2UU
Noodle & Boo Sunscreen: http://amzn.to/26L3zMO

Hope this helps plan and pack for the next vacation. Happy Summer!
